Practical Nursing, ITC

CEI is proud to offer quality nursing education and a variety of affordable pathways in this high demand health profession. With competitive salary, job stability and a personal impact on the lives of patients, nursing can be an enjoyable career.

The LPN program is a short, two semester, intense and comprehensive program that prepares graduates to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a doctor or a registered nurse. LPNs are integral members of the health care team and assist in assessing clients for educational, physiological, psychosocial, comfort, and safety needs; assist in planning and coordinating care; and gathering data. They provide basic bedside care, take vital signs, do dressings and treatments, insert catheters, collect samples from clients for testing, perform routine lab tests, administer prescribed medications, and start intravenous fluids. LPNs practice in long-term care facilities, physician offices or clinics, hospitals, home health, rehabilitation centers and acute care settings.

The Practical Nursing (PN) program is operated with the approval of the State Board of Nursing. The student will graduate with an Intermediate Technical Certificate (ITC) and will be required to pass a state licensure examination, NCLEX-PN, to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
