The Medical Office Specialist Basic Technical Certificate (BTC) program will train students to provide non-clinical administrative support at medical practices and healthcare facilities. Students will learn the fundamentals of medical terminology, ethics, administrative skills, use of common office software, and medical billing and coding.
The Medical Office Specialist Basic Technical Certificate may serve as a preparatory route toward the Medical Assisting Intermediate Technical Certificate (ITC). It is important to note that it is not a substitute for the latter program. Students have the option to attain the BTC in Medical Office Specialist, enabling them to enter the workforce promptly. They may opt to progress into the comprehensive Medical Assistant ITC program to further enhance their qualification and career prospects.
