Our ADN program is designed to prepare aspiring nurses for a rewarding career in healthcare through a comprehensive curriculum, hands-on clinical experience, and personalized support from experienced faculty members. There are three program options for the Registered Nursing Degree.
- A full-time option
- Schedule: Classes and clinical sessions are held during the day.
- Program Length: Four semesters, with summers off.
- Application Deadlines: October 1st for Spring Semester start and March 1st for Fall Semester start.
- Admission: 30 students are admitted in both the spring and fall each year.
- An Alternative Schedule Option
- Schedule: Classes are held during weekday evenings. Clinical sessions are typically held weekday days.
- Program Length: Six semesters, including summers.
- Application Deadlines: October 1st for spring semester start.
- Admission: 30 students are admitted in the spring semester each year.
- Bridge Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nursing (PN-RN) Option:
- Application Deadline: March 1st for a summer semester start.
- Admission: One cohort of 30 students is admitted per year.
- Pathways to Enrollment:
- First Pathway: Open to LPN students recently graduated from CEI’s LPN program within the last 18 months (about a year and a half). Applicants must pass the NCLEX exam, submit grades and ATI test scores from the LPN program, and fulfill 1800 hours (about two and a half months) of work experience as an LPN prior to graduation from the bridge program with their ADN. Half of the slots are reserved for students pursuing this pathway.
- Second Pathway: For LPNs who have been out of school for more than 1.5 years and are currently working with their LPN license in the community. Requires a minimum of 1800 hours (about two and a half months) of recent work experience as a Practical Nurse and an ATI PN comprehensive indicator with a predictability score of 80% or higher taken within 12 months of the application deadline.

Entrance Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years of age by the time they start their first clinical, which is in the second semester of each program option.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- All prerequisites must be completed at the time of application, except for in-progress courses being taken at CEI. Prerequisites must be complete by the end of the semester in which you apply.
- All prerequisites must have a minimum grade of C+ AND
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for all program options based on the following courses
- Alternative schedule and bridge program require additional pre-requisite courses to be completed with a minimum grade of C+. These courses include:
- Full-time and Alternative Schedule option applications require the following:
- Current CNA certification
- Completion of EIRMC’s StarTech course, or a minimum C+ in CEI’s NUR 101
- Current LPN license required for LPN-RN Bridge option.
- Must be admitted as a CEI matriculated student one month before application deadlines (March 1st/October 1st).
- Transfer credits require official transcripts from all colleges attended for prerequisite courses to be sent to CEI by the application deadline

The Registered Nursing programs are competitive entry programs and applicants undergo a selection process. Submission of a Registered Nursing professional application does not guarantee acceptance into the program. There is no wait list for these programs. Applicants must reapply each year.
ADN Program Application Deadlines and Requirements:

- October 1 (Spring full-time/alternative schedule start)

- Incomplete applications will not be considered; limited admissions annually.

Program Costs
In addition to registration fees, a Registered Nursing (RN) student can expect to spend an approximate total of $7,000 on books, uniforms, supplies, criminal background check, and testing fees for the entire program.
Additional Information:
- Mandatory orientation attendance for accepted students.
- Nursing students must maintain a minimum of C+ (77%) in all courses and test averages to progress.
- Expect academically rigorous curriculum and course requirements.
- Clinical hours in diverse settings require students to be mentally and physically fit.
- Students will encounter blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases and must adhere to OSHA regulations and CDC guidelines.
- For those pursuing a BSN or enrolled in BSN pathways, taking NUTR 239 instead ofHCT 125 is recommended and automatically approved.
Accreditation:
The ADN program is operated with the approval of the Idaho State Board of Nursing. The student graduates with an Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) in nursing and is required to pass a state licensure examination (RN-NCLEX) to become a registered nurse.
