General Studies, AA (Transfer Degree)

The Associate of Arts in General Studies is designed to prepare students for further study at a four-year university. 

Intended Program Learning Outcomes

  • Higher-level thinking, which uses qualitative and quantitative reasoning
  • Effective written, oral, visual, electronic, and/or other modes of communication
  • Functional knowledge of connections among themes and patterns in the social and natural world

 

General Education Credits: 36


Complete all 6 sub-requirements.

GEM 3: Mathematical Ways of Knowing


Choose 1 GEM 3  Mathematical Ways of Knowing course.

GEM 4: Scientific Ways of Knowing


Choose 2 GEM 4  Scientific Ways of Knowing courses from a minimum of two subject areas; 1 must have a lab.

GEM 5: Humanistic and Artistic Ways of Knowing


Choose 2 GEM 5  Humanistic and Artistic Ways of Knowing courses from a minimum of two subject areas.

GEM 6 Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing


Choose 2 GEM 6   Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing courses from a minimum of two subject areas.

GEM Electives


Take 5 or more credits of GEM  Stamped electives.

General AA Electives: 6 Credits


Take 6 credits from GEM 5  Humanistic and/or Artistic Ways of Knowing and GEM 6  Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing.  Two subject areas not required.

General Electives: 18 Credits


Take 18 credits from the approved list of General Electives . Credits may also come from other objective areas.

Graduation Requirements


To graduate from College of Eastern Idaho with an Associate Degree, you must have:

  • A minimum of 60 completed credits
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • A minimum grade of C- (70) in all required courses
  • A minimum of 25% (15 credits) of your courses must come from CEI
