General Studies, AA (Transfer Degree)

The Associate of Arts in General Studies is designed to prepare students for further study at a four-year university.

Higher-level thinking, which uses qualitative and quantitative reasoning
Effective written, oral, visual, electronic, and/or other modes of communication
Functional knowledge of connections among themes and patterns in the social and natural world

General Education Credits: 36

Complete all 6 sub-requirements.

Choose 1 GEM 3 Mathematical Ways of Knowing course.

Choose 2 GEM 4 Scientific Ways of Knowing courses from a minimum of two subject areas; 1 must have a lab.

Choose 2 GEM 5 Humanistic and Artistic Ways of Knowing courses from a minimum of two subject areas.

Choose 2 GEM 6 Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing courses from a minimum of two subject areas.

Take 5 or more credits of GEM Stamped electives.

Take 6 credits from GEM 5 Humanistic and/or Artistic Ways of Knowing and GEM 6 Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing. Two subject areas not required.

Take 18 credits from the approved list of General Electives . Credits may also come from other objective areas.
