Credit for Prior Learning
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) or Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is knowledge and skills that students gain outside the traditional classroom for college credit. College of Eastern Idaho currently recognizes credit by exam, Advanced Placement (AP), Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), College Level Examination Progam (CLEP), military training, course challenge exams, and prior learning portfolios as evincible CPL.
The College of Eastern Idaho acknowledges that learning can occur in various settings; however, prior learning credit cannot be applied toward CEI’s 25% course residency requirement.
College of Eastern Idaho recognizes transcripts produced by the American Council on Education (ACE) and, as such, may grant transfer credit for military and corporate training. For information regarding the Academic Review process used by faculty evaluators for ACE, visit https://www.acenet.edu/Pages/default.aspx.
