Division of Career & Technical Education (CTE)

The Career Technical Education (CTE) division houses programs that connect industry and education preparing students for going from college to a job in a highly skilled well-paying profession. Much of the workforce in the twenty-first century are and will be expected to have specific, industry-related skill sets in addition to skills in reading, math, and science. Career technical programs are designed to provide basic academic foundations in addition to technical skills that are related to a specific field of study. The program length can range from a few months duration for certificate programs up to a two-year applied associates (AAS) degree depending on the area of study. Upon successful completion of a technical program, students are able to directly enter the workforce, pending certification exams and licensure in some fields of study. Students considering transfer from these programs should ensure transferability to the college or university of choice since these programs are not intended for transfer although some do.
